Revolver by Marcus Sedgwick

As the title suggests, the central object in this story is a revolver

This novel has as its central object, a gun.  Set around 1910, the setting for the story is the Arctic.  A young boy and his father have gone to the Arctic circle, seeking gold.  In this wild and lawless place, the characters struggle with death and suspicion as gold becomes the goal for all who live there.  After the father of the boy is found dead on the ice, the boys life continues.  He knows his father has discovered gold, but struggles to keep the secret.  When confronted with a dangerous man determined to find out the secret of the gold, the ever present gun is central to the outcome.  This is definitely a story for older readers.  There is a twist in the tail to be enjoyed!
